PowerSchool SchoolMessenger

The PowerSchool SchoolMessenger Alert/Notification System recently deployed by the Montpelier School District provides tools for the district to inform students, parents, guardians and staff about school-related weather alerts, school closures, and other informational broadcasts.

By default, messages are sent to Parent and Guardians. Other contacts may be added upon request. See “Adding a student as a contact”, below.
Message types include:
    • Phone call
    • SMS/Text
    • Email
FCC regulations prevent us from sending SMS/Text Messages to contacts without approval. To ensure that you receive SMS/Text Messages you must
“opt-in” by texting the word “Yes” to 67587

You can help to ensure that information is up-to-date in SchoolMessenger by keeping your contact information in FinalForms up to date. FinalForms is also used to help ensure student data privacy and verify contact information when requesting support or requesting a student be added as a contact.

An app is available to provide you with additional information and options.
The app will allow users to:
    • View the contact information associated with your account.
    • Review the last 30 days-worth of messages.
    • Update your communication preferences and how you would like to receive notifications.

In order to use this app, users must sign up using the email address listed in PowerSchool.

Note: Known Issue - Web/Browser page takes time to load - be patient.
    • Must be a contact in SIS (PowerSchool) to access the SchoolMessenger App.
    • Allows student contacts to view and listen to past messages as well as set communication preferences.

Adding a student to the contact list to receive Messages and Alerts
    • Student devices and school email must be added to their contacts in order to receive messages and alerts.
    • Student must be in grades 7-12
    • FinalForms must be signed by both the parent and the student.
    • Student’s Parent or Guardian must request that contact information be added to the database.
    • For security and archival purposes, requests for adding a student must be Emailed to 
       messenger@montpelier-k12.org. Phone requests will not be accepted.
       Request must include the following Information:
       - Student Name
       - Student ID number (used to setup email for the student)
       - Phone Number to be added
